The Challenger Selection Series

The Challenger Selection Series

The competition starts with preliminary races to determine the challenger for the America’s Cup trophy. These races are called the Challenger Selection Series or the Louis Vuitton Cup. The winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup then faces the Defender (the current holder of the America’s Cup) in a series of races called the America’s Cup Match.

Throughout these months (August to October), all the following challenges will take place:
– Preliminary Regatta: A four-day regatta acting as a warmup for the main event.
– Louis Vuitton Cup: A round robin competition between the challenger teams to determine who will face the defender (the current America’s Cup holder) in the final match.
– America’s Cup Match: The final series of races between the winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup and the defender.
– Youth America’s Cup
– Women’s America’s Cup
